SOUL FUNKTION Radio #121 Fela Kuti

SOUL FUNKTION Radio show #121 Fela Kuti

Peace everyone, I hope you are well!
The SOUL FUNKTION Radio show presents a Fela Kuti special. This week, we take a look at the new Knitting Factory Records release of "Fela - The Best Of The Black President". This is the first in a series of re-issues which will include every record in the Fela catalog over the coming months. Obviously, we are super excited for this!

We are also extremely psyched for the Fela Lives! party at the Shrine in Harlem this Saturday (October 31st). Adam Gibbons, DJ Offbeat, DJ Obah, and a live performance from Amayo's FU-Arkest-Ra. The roof will definitely be raised that night as we celebrate and connect with the spirit of Fela. 10pm, don't be late!

onda brasileiro grooves on every Wednesday beginning at 5pm. Come on down and work out those working man's blues with some beautiful Brasilian tunes.
We'll see you Saturday if you're in the NYC area! Have a great week and take care!

Exclusive DJ Offbeat set for Music Is Everything

I am very excited to announce the first in a series of exclusive mix sets for Music Is Everything. Chris Galvan has allowed me to dig a little deeper and play some tunes that may not find their way into the SOUL FUNKTION Radio show. Expect all things, deep, soulful, and jazzy. You won't find these on the SOUL FUNKTION podcast or FutureHistoryOfHouse website. The only way to hear these tunes is to head over to MIE and get your download on!

Big ups to the one Chris Galvan. Look for a new set of his on the SOUL FUNKTION show in the near future.

SOUL FUNKTION Radio #117 DJ Offbeat & OdDio

Cheers, I hope you are well!
OdDio brings another classic mix to the SOUL FUNKTION Radio show this week. A little less eclectic than you may be used to by now from OdDio, but no less exciting. A touch more focused while still managing to cover a good bit of ground in just over an hour's time. Quality bizniz!
OdDio is living in Spain now but I got the chance to have a few drinks with him on his recent trip to NYC. I enjoyed our conversation throughout that evening and he got me thinking about all the music I have loved over the years but might not play as much on the radio show, or even out in the clubs for that matter. In that spirit, I have quickly dug up a few personal favorites that used to be end of the night go-to records for me about 8-10 years ago, back when I was playing almost all downtempo dubby grooves. I hope you enjoy! And apologies for the pops and skips, it's all vinyl this week and impulsive in the truest sense. I didn't get to clean my records before this set happened. Thanks for your understanding.

I think a Brazil Selection is long overdue...maybe next week
