The Charlie Parker Jazz Festival returns this weekend for its 17th year to reflect on the genius of the Yard Bird.
Gary Bartz, Jose James, and Frank Wes hold down in Harlem late Saturday afternoon and into the evening. Papo Vasquez and his Pirates Troubadores perform in the East Village on Sunday afternoon.
I've had a really positive experience in years past, with a great mix of jazz lovers and some curious passers-by. The sound is quality and the performances are top notch. This all comes to us free thanks to the City Parks Foundation!
